Open Spaces, Trails, and Parks
Lowry Vista: Open Space
Perhaps the most extraordinary piece of the Lowry Vista Vision is that this neighborhood creates access to open space that is currently landlocked! The northwest edge of Lowry Vista steps down into 100 acres of grassy open space, offering breathtaking views of Downtown Denver and Long’s Peak. This open space – forever protected – is integral to the vision of Lowry Vista as an environmentally responsible community.
Rarely do new developments have the opportunity to help cities control their sprawl as they also provide access to the great outdoors. Lowry Vista does just that.
Not only will the open space be preserved, but it could be used as an “outdoor classroom.” A special signage system will be developed to help educate citizens and even nearby school children about native Colorado plants and ecosystems.
Lowry Vista: Trails
Around the open space, Lowry Vista will connect trails that currently dead-end at the Air Force Base. By completing the Highline Canal and Westerly Creek trails, Lowry Vista will provide surrounding neighborhoods with greater mobility on their feet, bikes and blades.
Lowry Vista: Parks
Throughout Lowry Vista itself, there will be many parks and gathering areas. Integral to the town center design will be event space, plazas for markets, and even cozy niches for meeting friends. There will be an “emerald necklace” of parks throughout the sight, using attractive, drought-tolerant landscaping, which is a responsible, sustainable choice for Colorado.
To Get Involved
The project team plans to form an Open Space Committee comprised of community members who will meet monthly to discuss future plans for the Open Space.
